After becoming a college professor in 1985, I more or less stopped shooting moving images and took up shooting stills. I became just as devoted to still images as I had been to moving ones. I shot some video from time to time, but I had fallen in love with shooting nature in our vacation travels around some parts of the world, mostly tropical. I also became fascinated with photographing whales and dolphins and other animals and fish and have done so from Alaska to Australia. On the following pages, I am sharing a few of the thousands and thousands of images I have photographed. To this point, I have resisted shooting digital images, preferring to stay with chemistry.
As I say about moving images, there’s something about seeing the shot, framing the shot, and getting the shot that I just love. Then, of course, there’s a whole other story about scanning, editing, and printing stills....
