MOTION PICTURE PHOTOGRAPHY
Except for the "Music // Songwriting" page, at the top of all the pages and in the body of this page
and the page labeled "Images Portfolio II" are some of my favorite still images shot over the years.
My first day on the job at KAIT-TV in 1970, just out of college, I was handed a Bolex spring-wound 16mm film camera. I didn't much know what to do with it at first, but I learned how to shoot newsfilm. And I loved it. From such cameras, I graduated to the blimped Arriflex 16mm camera I used to shoot music videos while at CMT (e.g., "The Yellow Rose" performed by Johnny Lee and Lane Brody). Of course, film has long-since given way to video because video now pretty much will produce the film "look." So now it's digital video and capture cards and computers, but one still must know how to light the shot and how to frame it. First chance, I'll post a video clip here.
