Like many lawyers, when I read John Grisham's The Firm,
I believed I could write legal thrillers, too. If writers know anything much about life, I thought, they should write about it. If writers have had interesting professional careers, they should write about that, too. So, knowing a bit about life -- and as a lawyer, former journalist, and former political operative -- my first novel, Oedipus Tex, weaves journalism, politics, law, triumph, sex, and tragedy into a cohesive whole. For those who remember reading the story or seeing the movie Oedipus Rex, the Greek tragedy written by Sophocles in the 5th century B.C., the title Oedipus Tex should be at least somewhat self-explanatory.

Desiderata: The Book
By Don Tomlinson & Bob Allen
The famous prose poem Desiderata by Max Ehrmann is the subject of this book. My co-author and I took each passage from Desiderata and turned it into a full chapter by analyzing and expanding on what Mr. Ehrmann likely meant when he wrote those beautiful words. Also included is a bio of Max Ehrmann, a chapter on Desiderata's confusing origins, and a chapter on its fascinating copyright history. Buy now!
Patent Frenzy: Look Before You Leap
By Don Tomlinson & Karen Tripp
Necessity may be tantamount to invention, but patent issuance is not tantamount to commercial success. Unfortunately, many inventors believe receiving a patent on their inventions means the world will beat a path to their doors, checkbooks in hand. The truth, however, is that far less than one percent of patent inventions ever earn a single nickel in royalties or the like. This book is about the due diligence one should do before bankrupting one's self acquiring patents. Coming soon!
